HVAC Repair Services — Birmingham, AL Area

We fix first. Period.

When your AC goes out on a 95-degree Alabama afternoon, you don't need a sales pitch — you need it fixed. At Overland Mechanical, repair is always our first recommendation. New systems are expensive, and if yours was running well before the breakdown, there's a good chance we can get it back up and running without replacing the whole thing.

‍ ‍

What to Expect When You Call

1. We actually pick up the phone. When your house is heating up, the last thing you want is a voicemail. We're responsive, and we'll get back to you quickly if we can't answer right away.

2. Honest diagnosis. We'll take the time to figure out what's actually going on — not just what's easy to sell. Jeremy has over 10 years of hands-on HVAC experience, and that means faster, more accurate troubleshooting.

3. Repair options before replacement. If a repair makes sense, we'll tell you. If it doesn't, we'll explain why — clearly and honestly — so you can make the right decision for your home and your budget.

4. Quality parts. When we repair your system, we use parts built to last. We don't cut corners with cheap components that'll fail six months from now.‍ ‍

Common Repairs We Handle‍ ‍

Birmingham summers push your system hard. Here are the issues we see most often — and what we do about them:

AC running but not cooling. This is our most common call. It could be a refrigerant leak, a failed capacitor, a frozen evaporator coil, or something as simple as a clogged filter. We'll diagnose the actual cause before recommending any fix.

System short cycling. If your unit keeps turning on and off every few minutes, it's working harder than it should and driving up your electric bill. Common causes include an oversized system, a failing thermostat, or a dirty condenser coil.

Strange noises. Grinding, squealing, or banging sounds usually mean a mechanical component is failing — a blower motor bearing, a loose fan blade, or a compressor issue. These are almost always repairable if caught early.

Uneven cooling. Some rooms hot, others cold. This is often a ductwork issue rather than an equipment problem. We check airflow and duct condition as part of our diagnosis, not just the unit itself.

High energy bills. If your power bill has spiked without a change in usage, your system is likely losing efficiency. A refrigerant charge issue, dirty coils, or failing components can all cause this.

Brands We Repair

We service all residential HVAC brands — regardless of who manufactured or installed your system. Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, York, Bryant, American Standard, Amana, Heil, Ruud, Payne, and anything else you've got. If it heats or cools your home, we can work on it. Not sure what brand you have? Just give us your model number or send us a photo and we'll go from there.

What Repair Costs Look Like

We charge a diagnostic fee to come out and evaluate your system. If you move forward with the repair, that fee is applied to the total cost. We give you a clear price before any work starts — no hourly billing that creeps up while we're there. For larger repairs, financing through Wells Fargo is available.

When Repair Isn't the Right Call

We'll always be straight with you. If your system is 15+ years old, needs a major component like a compressor, or has had repeated breakdowns in a short period, replacement may be the smarter investment. But that's a conversation we'll have together — not a decision we'll make for you.

Service Area

We serve homeowners throughout the Greater Birmingham, AL area including Springville, Hoover, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Irondale, Cahaba Heights, Chelsea, Trussville, Vestavia Hills, and surrounding communities.

Financing Available

Unexpected repairs are stressful enough without worrying about how to pay for them. We've partnered with Wells Fargo to offer financing options so you can get your system fixed now and pay over time.
