What's Included in a Maintenance Visit

When we come out for a maintenance check, we're thorough. Here's what we look at:

• Inspect and clean the condenser and evaporator coils

• Check refrigerant levels and look for leaks

• Test electrical connections, capacitors, and contactors

• Inspect and clean the condensate drain line

• Inspect the system performance and functionality

• Replace or check the air filter (we'll show you how to do this between visits)

• Test system startup, operation, and shutdown cycles

• Check for unusual sounds, smells, or performance issues

Why Maintenance Matters

Fewer breakdowns. Most emergency HVAC calls come from issues that could have been caught during a routine check — a failing capacitor, a clogged drain line, low refrigerant. A tune-up once or twice a year can save you from a breakdown on the hottest day of the summer.

Lower energy bills. A well-maintained system runs more efficiently. Dirty coils, clogged filters, and low refrigerant all force your system to work harder, which means higher utility bills.

Longer system life. HVAC systems are built to last 12–15 years, but only if they're maintained. Skipping tune-ups is like never changing the oil in your car — it'll catch up with you.

When to Schedule Maintenance

For most homes in the Birmingham area, we recommend one visit per year:

What You Can Do Between Visits

We believe in helping homeowners understand their systems, not creating dependence. Here are a few things you can do on your own to keep things running smoothly:

• Change your air filter every 1–3 months or when it gets dirty (we'll show you how and recommend the right filter for your system)

• Keep your condensate drain clean - Add a little bleach to it once a year

• Keep the area around your outdoor unit clear — trim back plants and remove debris

• Don't close too many vents — your system is designed to circulate air throughout the home

• Pay attention to changes — if something sounds different, smells off, or isn't performing like it used to, give us a call before it becomes a bigger problem
